The Visionary Accountants team based in St Albans filled shoe boxes for charity this year, as part of Operation Christmas Child initiative. The accountancy team filled their own boxes and others were filled with gifts donated by clients and friends.
Since Samaritan’s Purse started the shoe box appeal in 1993 they have sent over 157 million shoe box gifts to children across the world, who otherwise may not have received Christmas presents.
Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief and development organisation working through local churches with communities in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. As well as providing gifts for children at Christmas, Samaritan’s Purse work on water and sanitation projects, help with sustainable livelihoods, and offer support with disasters and emergencies.
Wendy Li, Accounts Assistant, St Albans, Hertfordshire said:
‘All of our accountancy team members at Visionary Accountants were keen to get involved and each filled their own shoe boxes for the appeal. We also really appreciate the toys, gifts and pre-filled boxes donated by our clients and friends which has allowed us to donate a greater number of boxes to the charity. All the boxes have been labelled appropriately for either a boy or girl, containing age-related gifts, so we hope that the children who receive them enjoy the contents. According to the Samaritan’s Purse website a small shoebox can have a big impact on a child, especially at Christmas time when they may not receive many other presents.’
