Jay Doshi, Chartered Tax Adviser at Visionary Accountants, St Albans has just finished his three week Macmillan China Hiking Challenge.
Jay Doshi said: ‘It was a challenging but enormously enjoyable hiking trip and I managed to create many friendships along the way with everyone. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me and supported Macmillan Cancer Support. I have currently raised £5,500 of my £6,000 target. ‘
The route took him both on and alongside the Great Wall of China, following it through the Yanshan Mountains. It was a challenging trek due to the many steep, stepped sections including ‘Heavens Ladder’ which is a climb of over 300 steps.
If you would like to reward Jay’s effort and help him reach his sponsorship target please visit his JustGiving page athttps://www.justgiving.com/jaydoshi
Below is a poem Jay wrote about the Great Wall of China
Great Wall of China, O Great Wall of China
What shall you say if you can speak
"I am here ... strong and weak in places, just like the human body
Many a trekkers hike me, and I love them all
Wishing everyone a safe journey on their chosen paths
My reason was to create boundaries and defence
But now I am one with all
People come and ride on my rugged back
Loving and caring the views and surroundings and I am proud of that!
May you be blessed, that is what I shall say to you."
May you always behold the eye of beauty and may love cherish throughout the world as magnificently as you, O Great Wall of China, O Great Wall of China.
